According to our friends at Boise State: A module can be defined as a unit, chapter, topic, or segment of instruction. It is a standard unit or instructional section of your course that is a “self-contained” chunk of instruction.

Check out our microlearning minute to help you understand what a module is within the world of instructional design. Join the conversation.

What’s a Module?

BOB STOPKINS
Hello there! Bob Stopkins here with another Learning Carton Microlearning minute. Today, what’s a module?

xAPI
Can you hear me? Can you hear me? It’s an independent self-contained unit of a spacecraft.

No, no, no!

BOISE STATE

CHRIS
That’s what I’m talking about Boise State. Way to come through with the defininition!

Modules help us organize information so its easier to learn.

Smaller chunks of instruction allow us to make meaningful connections with new information.

So as you are planning your next live training or online course pay close attention to your modules.

They allow you to hack into your people’s working memories.

Modules help people understand.

So tell me, how do you use modules to improve instruction?

Or

How many modules do you think are appropriate?

Comment down below…

And a special shout out to Intro guy, and SUP Boise State.

And until next time

Peace
