The two types of checklists are Read Do and Do Confirm.

The read-do checklist type: you read the step and then do it. Think recipe or how to repair.

The do-confirm type: you do something and then verify or confirm that you did it. Think pre-flight checklist or surgical step list during an operation.

The Power of the Checklist

Checkity, check, check, check! Checklists!

2 types: Read Do or Do Confirm!

In the dimension of learning, checklists are one most powerful tools that we can give our people to help them perform better!

After obsessively reading the Checklist Manifesto, I’ve been compelled to tell you about these two types of checklists.

The Read Do checklist is like a recipe you read something you do it you read what goes into the pot you put into the pot.

You read the next step. A Read Do checklist. Read it do it.

The Do Confirm checklist is a memory aid. This type makes sure that nothing is forgotten. Think of it like a co-pilot and a pilot when they’re getting ready to take off.

They might say things like auxiliary fuel pump…off. Check!

Flight controls… free and correct, Check. Instruments and radios… checked and set.

Do confirm means that you do it confirm that you did it and then move on to the next step on the checklist.

Read Do helps us complete complex processes, like making something, a recipe. Do Confirm reminds us of complex things we already know how to do.

What kind of checklists do you make for your learners? Read Do? Or Do Confirm? or is there another type?

Comment down below.

Until next time…

Peace.
