What are the benefits of a community of practice?
My name is Chris Karel, and I want to talk to you about communities of practice.
It starts with motivation sometimes people just don’t want to learn new things. It can be boring.
Even with a good instructor or a dynamic eLearning course, sometimes people are not motivated to learn.
A community of practice is different!
A community of practice is something people want to be apart of. The locus shifts from outside to inside of us
It offers three major benefits like shared knowledge– shared knowledge leads to more efficient and effective learning for new and experienced people.
It gives us rapid skills development.
You can learn new skills faster by having access to expert solutions right at your fingertips.
And finally, they give us continuous learning behaviors
You can learn continuously by interacting or using resources that are developed by the group to help us learn all the time.
These three benefits lead to intrinsic motivation.
Simply stated, communities of practice can be powerful things in our schools, organizations, and companies.
