One Thing You Have To Avoid If You Are Going To Make Training
CHRIS
So if you want to make training, there is one thing you have to avoid.
CORP GUY
Yeah. You know, let’s just make a video of me talking over my PowerPoint.
CHRIS
I do like video, but…
DATA GUY
Excuse me,
CHRIS
Yes, Mr. Data
DATA GUY
Is their data that supports that people go and watch those things.
CORP GUY
Let’s just re-use the powerpoint, I’ll do the voiceover
CLE
Nooooo!
CHRIS
If you want to make training for your people, remember this. Where do you usually start
when you want to learn something? I’m guessing if you’re like most of the world, They go to Google to find out what they need to know. So making custom training means offering access to new knowledge and skills in a way that meets them exactly where they are.
CORP GUY
Exactly. Just use the PowerPoint. They couldn’t make the meeting, so–
CHRIS
Not exactly, The PowerPoint’s the perfect place to start. It becomes awesome source content to build a custom training solution that offers your employees autonomy and access to knowledge and skills that will help them improve not only their performance, but give them an opportunity to feel like they’re included in their own future. People will stick around longer. You can build a learning community from this and you’ll have greater success.
CORP GUY
So, an elearning course, yeah those are sooo much better.
CHRIS
I agree with you this time a poorly executed e-learning course is just like a PowerPoint that is recorded with voiceover, but a properly prepped e-learning as a part of a training calendar will
reduce training costs, boost productivity, It’s easy to update and it’s measurable with facts and data.
DATA Guy
Yes! Learning analytics!
CHRIS
So if you want to make effective training, what do you want to avoid?
