Microlearning is like little knowledge nuggets that people can “eat” to help them remember what they first learned. Traditional training programs fall short of helping people learn and retain new skills and behaviors, enter knowledge nuggets. I have made it my mission to teach people how to make and use video for learning purposes. In this case, I’m focused on explaining how we should use microlearning to help people learn. In this video post, I’ll explain how regular interval microlearning helps to flatten “the forgetting curve“.

This video was edited in Camtasia and subtitled using the free version of Kapwing.

Hi! I’m Chris Karel from the Learning Carton! I’m on a mission to help YOU make better learning videos. And I’m here to help you use those videos to create better learning experiences.

Microlearning is Knowledge Nuggets

Bite-sized knowledge nuggets

I’m talking tasty micro-sized morsels of information.

If I eat all these at once. I’ll be happy, but in a week I’ll forget about them.

If I eat a knowledge nugget every other day, I’ll remember how much I like them.

I may even start dipping them in other sauces.

And if I keep going at that regular interval, they start to really get to be one of my favorite things I can remember

Mmmm! Yummy.

Hi I’m Chris Karel from Learning Carton. Let’s connect the dots.

Microlearning is Knowledge nuggets

If you are like me and try to train or educate people you know they forget 90% of what they learn within five days of being taught or trained.

Well, you can flatten that forgetting curve, as they call it… by giving your people microlearning or knowledge nuggets so that they don’t forget.

As they get these little knowledge nuggets they will retain more, they’re going to engage more with the content you are trying to teach or train. And then they’re also going to start to develop new sauces.

No, no, no sauces! You get the point!

So I want to know from you.

How do you use microlearning to help people engage and learn more?

And until next time

Peace.
