To answer the public, let’s look at five examples of How Training is Helpful for an Organization or Company. As someone who makes training for companies, I find it a bit of a challenge.
Training is helpful for organizations in a variety of ways but today we’re going to talk specifically about five ways that training benefits a company or organization.
Hi, my name is Chris Karel and I make training or learning experiences for companies and organizations I specialize in video for learning purposes and courses that feature interactivity along with video to help promote the Improvement of knowledge, skills, and behavior.
So, let’s get to it.
Retention
The first benefit of training to an organization is it allows companies to retain top talent. if you are someone who believes they are going to grow their career and you have opportunities to grow within an organization then you’re more likely to stay in that company or organization.
According to Ottawa University, offering Career Development initiatives helps employees establish a sense of value within the company and fosters loyalty, ultimately resulting in increased staff retention and a 59% lower staff turnover rate.
Autonomy
Training is helpful because it can improve the autonomy of each employee. Autonomy is the quality or state of being self-governing. In other words, people feel confident that they can act independently during their work. Darlene Lancer, a licensed therapist and expert on relationships, says:
“Across cultures, autonomy is a fundamental human need. People who experience autonomy report higher levels of psychological Health and Social functioning. They have an increased sense of well-being and self-esteem.”
In other words, this means quality training and learning experiences are helpful for an organization by developing people who feel like they can do their work and have an impact that makes them feel good about themselves and their work.
Engagement
Training is helpful for an organization because it boosts engagement. When people feel connected to something they want to do more. I also love this quote by Rich Henson,
“Good employees motivate themselves, and good companies set the stage so that motivation flourishes.”
This is true for sure, but his article is all about ways that training kills engagement. So, let me take inspiration from Rich and suggest we should think about engagement as one of the 5 Business Advantages of Online Learning, but keep in mind that engagement requires an ever evolving knowledge of the learner’s needs. If you don’t take the time to get to know your employees’ needs, then engagement will be only a buzz word and Rich will have another list of reasons company’s fail to engage people with meaningful training.
Community
Training is helpful for an organization if it’s able to build a learning community within the organization. Social Learning Communities are typically thought of as Slack, Teams, and even Discord, but they are only the application. A social learning community is a designed learning in the flow of work element (VIDEO) that facilitates interaction among colleagues. It allows people to converse and learn from each other. If handled properly, experts can offer instruction and learners can empower their own learning by asking questions they need to be answered!
According to Asha Pandey,
“By delivering broad-based training and learning opportunities to every employee whether their remote or in the office a corporate Learning Community not only creates a more inclusive workplace but it also enhances the overall learning experience and employee experience in the hybrid work world.”
Skills and Knowledge
Training is helpful for an organization because it builds knowledge and skills. Most blog posts or industry presentations avoid or skip over this essential “help” to an organization. The very simple truth is that we need to provide training to improve knowledge and skills. The best way for anyone to get better at their job is to improve how much they know about it, which translates into their skills. Therefore, the single greatest benefit that training provides to an organization is the increase in knowledge and skills. I recommend teaching KSB with learning video as a way to reach the vast majority of your employees in the office, remote, or hybrid.
Summary
