Hey. What’s happening?
Take two.
Hey, I’m Chris Karel and I’m super excited to see you. Bahah
Take three.
Hi. Welcome to the Video for Learning program (VFL Online Course). I’m so happy you’ve decided to enroll in a course that’ll be transformative to what you want to do from a learner engagement standpoint.
This course is all about giving you the tools and a process to help you develop the skills you need to make video for learning. This course contains modules, lessons, and downloads.
The most important download of them all is the Scholar Workbook.
When you see this icon right here, as you progress through a lesson, it’s your signal to take ACTION in your scholar workbook or to take action with your camera or some other activity that’s going to involve you making an amazing video for learning.
The course is broken down into eight modules. You’re going to learn how to set a goal, write a script, and plan out everything you need to have in order to make the video. Then you’re going to learn how to make the video and then edit it, get it into some software and make it into a sequence that you can share with people, which is the next module distribution.
Once we’ve covered distribution, then you’re going to learn how to evaluate that video to make sure that it’s successful.
And finally, you’re going to end up with your own process. You’re going to take the best parts from the process that I teach to you and create your own process that you can use over and over and over again to make your own videos for learning purposes.
Okay, let’s hear from this other guy about the VFL way.
Hey, how do you start making your own videos?
A lot of people tell me they don’t even know where to start. I’m uncomfortable on camera. I’m not exactly sure what to do, Chris.
How do I get started?
It starts between the ears.
It starts with a three-part mindset that I call the VFL way or the video for learning mindset and that begins by embodying that done is better than perfect.
The second thing is meaning is more important than the visuals.
And the third part is the process that’s the most complicated.
You have to master it.
It takes practice, but you start with done is better than perfect.
Make it delete it.
Make it delete it and you’ll get better.
Second, worry about what the meaning is.
Your instructional video, your training video, and you’re learning video needs to be about what’s inside there that needs to be solid, and people need that information if they need it.
Visual quality won’t matter.
And then the process, starting at step one and ending with step seven and following a linear process full of checklist templates and formulas will get you great videos every single time you can do it.
That guy is great. Am I right?
Now it’s your turn.
I want you to focus on working your way through each lesson in this course.
Each video lesson, text lesson, and scholar workbook action was designed very carefully to help you learn the skill of video.
I want you to think of video as a communication language that you are mastering to help reach people on the other side of the small screen in a way that you can’t reach them with a PowerPoint or an image or a text document.
Video is the most popular medium on the Internet today, and you are here to grab that skill and make it yours from now and as long as you want to use it.
I wish you the best of luck, but you’re not going to need it because you have a process.
And as long as you have that process and the VFL way, you’re going to make amazing videos for learning purposes.
Peace.
