How to edit a video is easier if you follow the PEACHY method. In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to start creating a sequence and trim out the wasted time. This video post shows you how to make your edit and carry out the read do checklist items in the Editing phase of the peachy method of editing.
NOTICE!
Before you start the Editing phase you need to create a video editing project folder, you MUST have already done the following to create an effective learning video. This means you are following the VFL process: you have set a goal, written a script, and you are now in the editing stage of video production.

Let’s edit!
The Editing phase of editing, or the E in the PEACHY method requires 2 or 3 read do checklist items. The Editing phase begins with a rough cut or a selects sequence. The selects sequence is all of the clips from your source video on a single timeline. The rough cut is the clips from your source video in the order they should appear according to the script. Start by clipping out your scenes from your source video by setting in and out on each clip. Before you start to make a sequence (string of clips in order) review your script. Have it nearby on another monitor or printed out and laying next to you as you edit. Your VFL script is your guide. Use it to make an effective video. Put each clip in the proper position so that you have a clip for each scene in your script. Try using J, K, and L to navigate your timeline to help you save time. Once you have all of the clips in order, trim the wasted time by dragging the head and tail of the clip to make it shorter. The head is the beginning of a clip and tail is the end. Try to get it as tight as possible. Once you have a clean edit that follows the script you are ready to ADD things to your sequence, which is the A in Peachy.
Next, you’ll move to the A in PEACHY!
