How to edit a video is easier if you follow the PEACHY method. In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to get your project started in the planning phase of editing in your software! This video post shows you how to start your edit and carry out the read do checklist items in the Planning phase of editing.
NOTICE!
Before you start editing you need to create a video editing project folder, you MUST have already done the following to create an effective learning video. This means you are following the VFL process: you have set a goal, written a script, and you are now in the editing stage of video production.

Let’s edit!
The Planning phase of editing, or the P in the PEACHY method requires 7 read do checklist items. Launch your editing software. I use Premiere Pro. Create a new project and save it in the folder structure you created before you started editing. Then, review your purpose again. Make sure you are grounded in why you are making this video. Don’t get lost in the editing process. Stay focused on your end goal. Next, you’ll import your folder filled with your source video, graphics, images, sounds, and music. Once you have everything inside the software, now it’s time to log and sort. This process is fun! Looking at all of your clips and naming them so that it’s easy to remember what they are as you start to chop things into clips. Before you start to make a sequence (string of clips in order) review your script. Have it nearby on another monitor or printed out and laying next to you as you edit. Your VFL script is your guide. Use it to make an effective video.
Next, you’ll move to the E in PEACHY!
